Scott Gessler once again leads in fundraising as GOP gov reports offer surprises

From The Denver Post.

For the second fundraising period in a row, Secretary of State Scott Gessler has outraised his three Republican rivals running for governor.

Gessler raised almost $40,000 in the last two weeks of May, while former CongressmanTom Tancredo was close behind. The biggest surprise was that former Congressman Bob Beauprez came in fourth in fundraising, trailing former Senate Minority Leader Mike Kopp who has struggled to raise money. Beauprez, who loaned his campaign $220,000 when he jumped in earlier this year, has loaned it another $100,000.

The winner of the June 24 GOP primary will take on Gov. John Hickenlooper, a Democrat seeking a second term and, as an incumbent, enjoys a huge fundraising advantage.

Here are the fundraising totals for the latest period, which covered May 15-May 28. Reports were due Monday.
