Secretary of State Scott Gessler bests other three GOP rivals in latest fundraising

From The Denver Post

Secretary of State Scott Gessler outraised his three Republican gubernatorial rivals in the latest period, but all four still are struggling to raise enough money to unseat Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper.

The latest fundraising period covers the first two weeks in May; reports were due Monday. The previous fundraising period was January through April; those reports were due May 5.

The latest reports from the GOP candidates show: Gessler raised the most; former Congressman Tom Tancredo has the most cash on hand; former Sen. Mike Kopp is still struggling to raise money; and former Congressman Bob Beauprez is the only candidate to lend himself money and the only candidate able to self fund.

The winner of the June 24 GOP primary will face Hickenlooper, who still has more than $750,000 cash on hand after booking nearly $1 million in TV ads for the fall. The buy is for $906,050 and runs from Oct. 7 to Nov. 3.
